It's funny. I talked for months about how I wanted to start my own knitting blog. Then when I finally take all the steps to do so I only update it twice in a month! Anyway I have made a lot of progress on several projects. I finished JF's sweater just in time for his birthday. It's the rolled edges sweater from the boxed set Knitting To Go used a wool/silk/mohair blend called Riata from Brooks Farm Yarn. I bought it at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival in May. So I figure 3 months isn't too bad for a sweater. Especially when I keep starting other projects in the meantime!

I cast on for a sweater commissioned by JF's father. He picked out the yarn at the Massachusetts Sheep and Woolcraft Fairl. I don't have the label with me but will update when I can. It's a beautiful purple superwash wool in a lightweight worsted weight. I finally found the perfect sweater in a special edition of Vogue Knitting from 2002. I have to credit the lovely storeowner from the knitting store in Freeport for actually giving it to me for free when I brought it up to the register! The sweater is called "Wine Country." I spent 4 hours 2 weekends ago winding one enormous tangled hank into center pull balls. I know it's crazy but after a while it's addicting to sort through the maze of yarn and conquer it into neat little skeins. Anyway I completed all 7 1/2 inches of the ribbing this past weekend. It's a 2 x 2 rib with seed stitch in between the stockinette ribs. Then it's all stockinette stitch with a lovely cable that runs around the neck and down the center. Well you'll see when it's all done. But check out the sneak peek in the pic above!

We had a huge turnout tonight at the knitting group I created. Well relatively speaking of course. It was me and JF plus a couple other girls. Then we were creating a stir knitting in Starbucks and two more women on separate occasions came up to us interested in joining! It's true what they say: if you build it they will come. Check out these pics!
